350 BLEECKER STREET CO-OP
NEWSLETTER
#170
November 25, 2003
Following are highlights of board discussions and building developments for October and November. The board encourages everyone to contact board members with comments or questions, to come to the design committee meetings to discuss appearance and other visual details, and to share ideas about the ongoing betterment of the building. Also, please check the display case outside the mailroom for ongoing building updates and information and take advantage of the bulletin board to post items for sale, services or other information.
ELECTIONS
The current board ran unopposed and was re-elected at the 11/11/03 Annual Shareholders Meeting (see display case for board bios). The format differed from that of previous meetings by having all election matters in a printed Annual Report, rather than presented orally. The time was spent in a pleasant social gathering, with refreshments. The board was available for questions and suggestions, and neighbors had a chance to mingle and get to know each other. All residents were mailed a copy of the printed Annual Report, which is available for viewing at www.350bleecker.com. At the 11/16 board meeting, it was unanimously agreed to maintain current officer positions.
HOLIDAY PARTY: Monday, 12/8, 7pm.
We will have a tree trimming and inauguration of the new menorah. Come and enjoy light refreshments, courtesy of Dan Kobin (Apt 1K), owner of DANO restaurant; eggnog and cider; and a possible appearance by Santa Claus! Please bring an ornament you can leave with the tree for future holiday decorating. All kids -- both in age and heart -- are welcome.
STAFF
350 Bleecker is fortunate to have dedicated and long tenured staff: Following is when staff members started at 350:
Rifo Otovic, super; 1989; Jerry Rawls, porter and doorman, 1963; Armando Sanchez, doorman, 1989;
Jasmin Orahovac, weekend doorman, 1993; Geoff Merrill, weekend doorman and painter, 1993.
BUILDING UPGRADES
Stairways: Only the stairway and landing to the roof garden remain to be painted. This will be done in the near future, when we can expect a spell of unfavorable roof weather. Thanks for your patience.
Bike Alcove: The alcove has been painted and bike-racks ordered. Rob Geils is maintaining the bike-space list.
Gym: The gym has been painted, and the board is considering a proposal for new equipment, flooring, and lighting.
MAINTENANCE PAYMENTS -- Avoid $50 late fee
Shareholders can automatically deduct maintenance payments each month, thus having one less item on a to-do list and never paying a $50 late fee - especially at this time of year, when mail service might be slower. Please check the web-site for the form, or ask a board member.
COMMITTEEES
If you are interested, please contact members of the specific committee or any board member: Garden - Helen & Jack Katz; Gym - Maura Geils; Design - Rob Geils or Armanda Squadrilli.
